Construction of the $110.2 million Cowra Hospital Redevelopment is moving ahead, with the completion of the first concrete pour for the project.
The concrete pour forms the foundation for the ground floor of the new building, which will include the hospital’s main entry and front of house.
The latest milestone follows significant progress on site, including the completion of the piling works and supporting caping beams which sets the structural foundation for the concrete.
When complete, the new building will provide a modern and purpose-built facility for the region and , will include::
• An emergency department
• A general medical and surgery inpatient ward
• A peri-operative service
• A maternity unit with a dedicated nursery
• Ambulatory care
• A dental clinic
• Renal dialysis
• Oncology
• Community Health and Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol services
• The hospital’s first CT Scanner
Through the planning and design of the project, feedback from staff and the community has informed the hospital’s two-level design, as well as improved access and onsite parking, new landscaped areas and enhanced access to district views from the hospital.
Community engagement continues to inform the patient and visitor experience, alongside the Arts Working Group who are ensuring the community’s long held connection with the site is captured though the new hospital’s Arts and Culture initiatives.
Later this year, the project will also invite Expressions of Interest from local artists to contribute to the art and culture of the Cowra Hospital redevelopment.
Health Infrastructure is committed to helping create new training and job opportunities throughout construction, with local trades to contribute to a range of roles on site.
